Romeo And Juliet by William Shakespeare 9-11A

Romeo and Juliet

Reasons for selection and synopsis
Romeo and Juliet is one of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies.
It follows the path of two star-crossed youngsters who, ignoring the feud which divides their warring families, fall in love and marry.
However, murder and many unhappy coincidences results in violence and tragedy for the young lovers. The story offers a rich
mix of love, comedy, intimacy and violence and this version cleverly adapts the play for a younger audience.

This is an extract from the end of the play…
A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon’d, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Juliet and her Romeo.
