ParticipantHi Beth, here is my homework for this week
Ding Dong, Ding dong. “I wonder who that could be,” Agatha groaned as she got out of her couch for the first time in three months. She was expecting a parcel. Ding Dong, DING DONG. “Oh, SHUT UP!” se cried as she turned the door handle. It was not a parcel. Outside of the door, was another lady inviting her to a party. She snatched the invitation from her. “The names Edith, by the way,” she added. ” I don’t care what your name is.” Agatha snapped barely taking her eyes of the paper. “Oh, and by the way, you need a partner like a husband.” Agatha glared at her, she was not liking this conversation at all. “I’ll bring my cat thank you very much,” and then she slammed the door in her face.
At home, Agatha thought about the strange lady and the invitation. Why would she invite her? How did she even know her? Well, as this is the first invitation, I suppose I will go. But bring a husband, who does she think I am?

ParticipantHi Beth, here is my homework for this week.
Thank you for the stellar lesson, see you next week! ☺️
In my opinion, I think that the most amusing person in this story is Mrs Bennet because she always tells her husband off for silly reasons and she is always going on and on about things, she is also very controlling and she tells people off. Elizabeth Bennet is headstrong and fiercely independent, and despite her initial disapproval of him, she falls in love with and marries Mr. Darcy. Although I still don’t understand why if when they get married, they are like always against each other. I find her really funny because she gets mad for silly things but then she gets better quite easily.

ParticipantHi Beth ,
Here is my homework for this week.
Thank you for the superior lesson, have a great week!
I would read another story about the Diamond brothers because I really like the author and the book. The two brothers are very amusing characters and I would like to see them solve another mystery because The Falcons Malteser is a very good book. Also I love how Anthony Horowitz can make up such brilliant characters such as The Fat Man, Beatrice von Falkenberg and the professor. I have also read the book Public Enemy Number 2 and it was phenomenal. I recommend this book to everyone because although it is a bit violent, it is a great book to read and Anthony Horowitz is a perfect writer who is funny.

ParticipantHi Beth ,
Here is my homework for this week.
Thank you for the magnificent lesson, have a great week!
I think that Tim is a very funny and irresponsible person because he wants to be the boss of the diamond brothers but he is actually very distracted and stupid. Nick diamond is a more clever and reasonable person and he does most of the work. He gets the job assuming that it would be a very easy job. His part in investigations are mainly luck-based, as he is always the subject of a clichéd “lucky phrasing from the stupid character makes the thinker realise something crucial” trope, or he conveniently opens secret passageways by accident.
On the other hand, Nick diamond is more of a shy, sometimes funny, serious person who helps develop the plot in the story. Being only a teenager, Nick isn not a spy detective like Tim, but is the brain behind the business and somewhat of the underdog, initially perceived by people as nothing more than just a ‘smart kid’. Nick Diamond clearly does most of the work when Tim is just messing about. He does his homework for him and fills him out most of the time.
Thanks again

ParticipantHi Beth!
Here is my homework for this week! I hope you like it, have a brilliant week! 😁
By the way, I chose the second one. Do you think dracula is a real character or an evil presence?
I think that Dracula is an evil presence. I know this because in the book, it says that dracula has a pair of wings and we all know that it is not physically possible to fly. I also know that Dracula is not real because if vampires were real, the vampire population would quickly outpace the human population, which would make the human population disappear even faster. Also, vampires are meant to have fangs and if vampires were real then the fangs would show when they open their mouth but in normal human teeth, that is not possible because all our teeth are the same size. (That is not strictly true but in movies, the fangs are like 4 times bigger than the regular teeth when in real life they are about the same.)
Some people may believe that vampires are real because of their cultures and religions, but respectfully, I don’t believe that that is true. Although a tiny bit of me thinks that vampires are real because in movies, they look really real and I have had nightmares about them.

Dear Diary,
Today has been a horrible day! Let me tell you all about it. I was cooking food for me and the Madam. The usuals, green beans, grains of rice, and a slice of bread. I served supper on the table and called Madam to come and eat. She came immediately. “What is this?” she groaned. “Has your father ever taught you how to cook?” I didn’t answer but instead shook my head. She looked at me in a disgusted way and looked at me up and down. After muttering a few rude words under her breath, she finally sat down. I tucked into my rice and beans when suddenly, there was a knock on the door. “Who is disturbing us, open the door instantly!” Madam shouted.
Groaning, I walked to the door and opened it. To my surprise, were my two children, Naledi and Tiro! Before I could say anything, they took me into a giant hug! With tears rolling down my cheeks, I hugged them back. “WHO IS THIS?” boomed a voice behind me. “Oh, Madam, these are my two children, Naledi and Tiro,” I explained, trying to stay calm. Naledi explained that my baby was sick! I knew I needed to do something about it. After all, I was the mother. I asked my Madam if I could go see her and she said that I could go tomorrow.
I hope that this all goes to plan and my baby will be ok in the next few days.

ParticipantHi Beth,
I didn’t do a lot but it is very accurate.
Have a nice week! Thank you for the amazing lesson.
I think that Beverley Naidoo was a brilliant author. I also find it very interesting how she didn’t like her handwriting. I wonder if all authors write their stories on the computer or they write it in their notebook or book first. I also want to know if Beverley Naidoo comes from South Africa.
FACTS
She is white although she comes from south Africa. And was born there.
She married another South African exile and returned freely to South Africa for the first time in 1991.
She now lives in the UK
Beverley Naidoo was born into a white, middle class family in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1943.
Her involvement with the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa led to her being imprisoned in solitary confinement for eight weeks at the age of 21.
Nadine Naidoo plays her as an actress.
Nadine is 13 years old in the story.(Did you know that Nadine in the story is based on the actress that played Beverly? (I didn’t))
Thanks again

ParticipantHi Beth,
Thanks for the amazing lesson, have a nice week. 😄
The writer uses structure in this text by using short sentences such as ‘It was here that she had first seen it’ and ‘This time she would be ready’. This creates suspension because it makes the reader wonder if she will make it this time or not. It also makes you wonder what it was that she saw the first time. Furthermore, it has a very scary theme because she is out at night when she is not meant to.
It also creates suspense when it does not say that she made her way to the woods, it just says ‘20 minutes later, she entered Harrow Woods.’ This makes us wonder if anything important has happened between the two events and is also a flash forward. The writer has also used tension throughout the text because of the setting. The setting really changes the mood of the text and it is also an example of pathetic fallacy. Throughout the text, it has created tension and has always been tugging me to read more.
Thanks again,
Sanya ☺️

ParticipantHi Beth, here is my homework for the fantastic lesson! Sorry for the late homework
Have a nice week 😊
HAVING READ THIS POEM, HOW DOES IT MAKE YOU FEEL ABOUT THE PEOPLE AND THEIR LIVES?
Having read this poem, it makes me feel sympathetic for these people. I feel sorry for them because
They probably live in a very hot country such as Qatar or Burkina Faso and they do not get a lot of water. I commiserate with them since in the text it says, “imagine the drip of it, a small splash, echo in a tin mug, the voice of a kindly god.” This makes me feel horrified because it says that if there was a tiny splash of water, they would almost think that it is a gift from god. It also mentions in the same sentence, that it echos. If something echos, then that means it is a very little amount.
Most humans can only survive up to 3 days without water so they must suffer every single day without one single drip of water. It also makes me feel content when the pipe bursts. This is because I feel really happy for them to be finally able to have water for the first time in their lives. It spreads joy in my body when the poem describes the water as “brass, copper, aluminum”. These are all types of metal and metal is normally very hard to get. Overall, thai makes me feel really heartbroken but then my mood lightens up when the pipe bursts.
Sanya.
(P.S.I checked with my parents and they fixed the problem. I can do my homework better now. Thank you.)
