Mecca, Arabic Makkah, ancient Bakkah, city is in western Saudi Arabia, located in the Ṣirāt Mountains, inland from the Red Sea coast. It is the holiest of Muslim cities. Muhammad, the founder of Islam, was born in Mecca, and it is toward this religious centre that Muslims turn five times daily in prayer. Because it is sacred, only Muslims are allowed to enter the city.
Mecca is stationed 277 meters above sea level and it is surrounded by the Ṣirāt Mountains and Mount Abū Qubays, to the east and Mount Quʿayqʿān, to the west. Mount Hirāʾ. Entrance to the city is gained through four gaps in the surrounding mountains. The gaps have also defined the direction of the contemporary expansion of the city.
Since the city was relevantly low, Mecca is threatened by seasonal flash floods despite the low amount of annual precipitation. The temperatures are high through the year and it could reach 49degrees.
Plants and animals are rare because they have to withstand the heat and low amount of rain. Natural vegetation includes tamarisks and various types of acacia. Wild animals include wild cats, wolves, hyenas, foxes, mongooses, and kangaroo rats (jerboas).
According to Islamic tradition, Abraham and Ishmael, his son by Hagar, built the Kaaba as the house of God. The central point of pilgrimage in Mecca before the advent of Islam in the 7th century, the cube-shaped stone building has been destroyed and rebuilt several times. During pre-Islamic times the city was ruled by a series of Yemeni tribes. Under the Quraysh it became a type of city-state, with strong commercial links to the rest of Arabia, Ethiopia, and Europe. Mecca became a place for trade, for pilgrimage, and for tribal gatherings.
Mecca depends on the surrounding wadis for drinking water. The waters of ʿAyn Zubaydah (Zubaydah Spring), built in the 8th century, flow through tunnels from Wadi Nuʿmān.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Question A:</p>
If Mrs Joe was writing the story through her perspective, it would be a lot shorter as she was killed by Orlick halfway through the book. However, it would be interesting. She could express hatred about things that we wouldn’t know through Pip’s life and see the world through her eyes. As Mrs Joe treated Pip quite badly, she might have said how annoying and immature Pip was. It could be an antagonistic autobiography aiming towards Pip.P.S sorry for the lateness

Question C:
The Moral of Pip’s strenuous and gruelling journey is to never judge a book by its cover. This is clearly conveyed when Pip was immensely scared of am escaped convict; Magwitch. Later on, it is told that Magwitch gave him a tremendous amount of money and devoted his life to make Pip becoming a gentleman. Additionally, Pip fell in love with Estella, however, she had turned out to be a half-horrible person. Furthermore, Miss Havisham looked like a wealthy, nice person, however she treated Pip extremely badly and taught her own daughter how to break people’s hearts for revenge and retaliation. In real life context, judging a person by his/her looks could affect everything. e.g. judging a homeless person is wrong because you do not know what he/her has been through.

Huxley creates a sense of danger and suspense by using short sentences. This is clearly conveyed in the technique ‘They stared at him with astonishment.’ The word ‘astonishment’ gives a sense of shock and worry. Furthermore, the short sentence creates the atmosphere of both fast and slow motion, and makes the reader think in the characters’ point of view. Additionally, the verb ‘stared’ is usually used when fatality or jeopardy takes place.

Technology in Brave New World is catastrophic. The idea of The World State controlling birth and privacy is a very saddening and a tremendously terrible idea. Furthermore, heirachy is an abusive system. Alphas and betas need to work very hard while others can relax. However, Epsilions get mocked about their dyslexia and they get called ‘semi-morons’.
Additionally, the drug ‘soma’ controls everyone. Meaning there is no fun, privacy or freedom. The government are especially corrupt in Brave New World.
