Character Bonds

Sofia (Ling) played their Flaw card “Untrusting” and wrote:

"Set the course for home, men," I commanded.
We had been sent out, into the unknown depths of overcast space. It had been rumoured that some type of creature had been lurking, just around the corner, in the Milky Way - specifically, the Alpha Quadrant. Of course, rumours weren't necessarily true: anybody could do it, these days. However, I must admit, they sometimes were, in fact, true. I had been sent by my boss, out into the murky unknowns, accompanied by a fellow named Harry.
I wasn't used to guiding an entire spacecraft on my own, and now we were in trouble: as Earth fainted away, nothing could be seen; the GPS had lost signal and communication signals were lost. I attempted to steer back, but, after an hour, lost track of my direction. Unfortunately, Earth was quite nearby; I just didn't listen to my crew, as we'd just been bobbing around in this gargantuan spacecraft for what seemed ages. Helpfully, that was when my faithful companion intervened.

Sofia (Ling) drew the Flaw card “Indecisive.”

Harry (Thea) played their Motivation card “Find fame” and the scene’s Setback card, “You fixed a problem, but created another.,” and wrote:

We had to work hard to fix the GPS as we didn’t know where we were going and didn’t really know how we were supposed to do steer this ship. Then our medical officer, Sofia wondered” Why is there a unconnected cable in this box ?” Then we all knew thought that if we put the two cables together we could make the GPS start working again. I went over to see what had happened and I saw a green cable and a red cable that was loose. I tried touching them with each other. Then suddenly there was a noise and a face on the screen. “Hooray !”we all cheered. But there was a problem. This was not our leader who was speaking and looking at us. It was somebody else. Without our leader we wouldn’t know where to go and what to do. We all started to panic because we couldn’t control the plane. So then I took over and drove because no one else wanted too as it was scary.

Act 2 Scene 1

Scene cards:

  • Place card: “You see asteroids”
  • Challenge card: “Navigation systems aren’t working properly”
  • Success card: “You find just what you needed!”
  • Setback card: “You overlook some important information,”

Harry (Thea) drew the Strength card “Kind.”

Harry (Thea) played their Strength card “Kind” and wrote:

We finally found a way to fix the GPS. There was our commander in front of us telling us to go north. Then, all of a sudden I saw a black dot I told my team to go and explore it ,but when we went to close it started hitting us. “What is happening?!”I asked. Then thats when I realised that it was the dangerous asteroids crashing into us. “Help!”we all screamed. Then all of a sudden an asteroid hit the plane right into the middle of the plane and cracked the GPS. Then I volunteered to steer the plane while everyone took cover. I managed to steer in and out through the asteroids. “We made it!” we all cried.
“Except from the GPS.”I reminded them. We took a proper look to see how it died and we found out that only a screw was missing. Everyone started looking all around for the screw but none of us found it. Then Sofia had a bright idea, she said that it could be inside a place hidden well. She was right because strangely we found it inside a old sock. We screwed it back and then we had found signal again!

Harry (Thea) drew the Strength card “Confident.”

Sofia (Ling) played their Flaw card “Indecisive” and the scene’s Setback card, “You overlook some important information,,” and wrote:

Even after finding the missing screw, the signal was lost from us not so long after – precisely five minutes later. Everybody else was busy cheering on for Harry’s success; he had been awarded the fame that he’d been looking for. It wasn’t very helpful, though, since I couldn’t think of what to do, especially in this racket. After pondering for a while upon what to do next, I suddenly recalled something that our boss had mentioned: “Make sure to check the ‘help’ button on the GPS so that you know what to do if something atrocious happens. I believe in you!” Now, all I could do was to fetch Harry and request his assistance. Surprisingly, all of the crew turned against me – they booed and shoved me out; I was left in my darkness, unsure of what to do next…

Act 3 Scene 1

Scene cards:

  • Place card: “You’re approaching a previously undiscovered planet”
  • Challenge card: “Your water supply is running low”
  • Success card: “You find new lives on the new planet”
  • Setback card: “You all feel homesick.”

Sofia (Ling) drew the Strength card “Honest.”

Sofia (Ling) played their Strength card “Honest” and wrote:

My instinct told me at once to stop sobbing and to lead our team to success – not just sitting in the corner, wasting a massive opportunity to lead my assigned team. I gradually got up to perform my duty, when the entire mob made an unnecessarily ear-deafening entrance.

“What are you doing, captain?” they all chanted. Fortunately, I had already gotten up and returned to the control panel. I informed them that I was attempting, with a little struggle, to guide ourselves somewhere; there was a planet nearby which we hadn’t consulted on our maps, or was undiscovered. We were running out of water; a possibility of death, caused by thirst – we simply had to explore for any symptoms of Earth, water or anything that could save us…

Sofia (Ling) drew the Strength card “Lucky.”

Harry (Thea) played their Flaw card “Arrogant” and the scene’s Success card, “You find new lives on the new planet,” and wrote:

We just kept on steering as we were all scared we didn’t know what to do.We saw a tiny speck somewhere in the far galaxy. We all voted that we should go and see what it was because we were somewhere that we were completely lost and we all wanted to have a drink because we were dying of thirst.”Full speed ahead.”I said “Hang on tightly !” we went full speed and we zoomed to the sky. We were there in no time. “Who wants to step out first?” I asked . Nobody did so I just took a step out. “Wow!” I exclaimed. This is like planet earth but the colour of the grass was red and the water was green. We took of our suits and stayed nice and warm. Then we went to see if the green liquid was edible. So we all tried it and it tasted like normal water! “I feel sick !” said Sofia . “So do we !” we all exclaimed “We all miss home.” I said

Epilogue

Harry (Thea) drew the Motivation card “Get rich.”

Harry (Thea) played their Motivation card “Get rich” and the scene’s undefined card, “undefined.” The epilogue begins with the game’s Ending card, “…and you find a new home..” They wrote:

Once we started to look around a bit more to see what else we could find on the planet. There was some trees which gave us oxygen and we gave it carbon dioxide. Then we explored a bit more further we actually found tons of bricks and cement all in one conner. “Lets try and build a hose in case it rains.” I suggested. Everyone else agreed so we all worked together to build a house. It was done in approximately four hours. When we went inside we found out it was massive. We exited the house and we went to explore more as this was our world (for now until we got back the signal) and we were going to find out how to survive. When we went deeper into the woods we found some dead sheep! So we took all of them back home to see what we could do with them. “Maybe we could build some beds and blankets to keep warm in the night.” suggested Sofia. We got some shavers from our suitcases and started to shaved the sheeps. We used the wool to make the stuffing in the bead and the blankets as there was enough for everyone. For the spare wool we made some armchairs which was nice and cosy. It was getting dark and we were all hungry. We decided if we could find some frozen or dead chickens we could eat them. So we left our house and was wearing our space suits because it was very cold. We found some frozen chicken and we got them. We made a fire outside by using some logs, a leaf and some glass we found on the way when we went to hunt the chicken. After we had our delicious feast we went inside and fell in deep slumber of oblivious sleep.

Sofia (Ling) played their Motivation card “Avoid responsibility” and wrote:

Although we may never return home, we have discovered a luxurious home, containing all sorts of daily-life materials; it was Earth 2.0, but with a minute population - precisely ten people; it seemed even healthier: no drugs, pollution or any bad things existed! However, homesickness seemed to take the better of us, and not much other food seemed to be lying around. We all missed our families and friends, but desperately attempted to retrieve a signal again... and again...
But there was no hope; we were lucky to find a signal for a few minutes, but a few minutes only. My suggestion to do with the rain didn't particularly help - there was no weather here because the planet hadn't ever been tilted as Earth had been. Without it, there would be no seasons, twenty-four hours a day or even time...
